Ye Olde Dragon Anthologies

Fantasy > Anthologies

From Ye Olde Dragon Books.

Ye Olde Dragon Books has a growing library of anthologies. If you like rewrites of fairytales, they come out in the spring. If you like classice movie monsters, those are slated for the fall -- just in time for Halloween, of course. Either way, we invite our authors to take a classic movie monster or fairytale trope and turn it "on its ear."

Whether fairytales or monsters, these stories will amaze and entertain, make you shiver and jump at shadows, laugh, and sigh, as well as say, "Hmmm .... what if .....?"

What if the monster was a victim? What if the beauty was the beast? What if Rapunzel didn't want to leave her tower? What if the monster wasn't monstrous, but kind of cute and cuddly? What if the werewolf was the hero? What if Sleeping Beauty put herself to sleep? Etcetera .....

Join us every fall and spring with a new collection of fantastical imaginings.

Have fun!

You know what? It doesn't matter! Because here between these pages, we invite you to explore and enjoy and shiver and cry and laugh and cheer and sigh and even fall in love with the amazing imaginations of seventeen authors, who explore their own particular twists and turns and reflections on just what it means -- or could mean -- to be the Wolf.

TALES FROM THE TOWER
A burst of inspiration drives a baker to build a tower—without a door. But it proves to be the perfect dwelling for a certain old woman. The question is –Why?
A tower can be a safe place, especially during a zombie apocalypse. But what do you do when your safe place becomes a prison? When communications between two castles have been cut off, a maiden must ride to rescue her friend from an evil … realtor?  We all know the tale of Rapunzel and her hair growth problem, but what if her hair grew – everywhere? When the moon was full and bright? Yes, we have a werewolf in our midst! Chemical warfare is a sad fact of our modern life, but what if scientists learned to modify people to give them supernatural abilities? Like telekinesis? Or maybe tentacle hair? On a spaceship far away, a young woman lives alone in a different kind of tower. One day, her songs reach a fellow traveler…

These are but a few of the stories you are about to dive into! The sixteen stories within these pages will take you to the realms of the fairies, to desert lands far away, to war-torn places where weary characters just try to survive, to forests, to windswept seascapes, to London and New York City, and into the far reaches of the galaxy. Explore the realms with us!

WHO’S THE MONSTER?
A child saved from a car crash insists a scarred man pulled her out, earning the moniker Monster Girl. Was there a monster or did she imagine her savior?  A not-so-scary haunted house turns into a true house of horrors for three young people. Step back in time to watch a man, a computer, and … a virus!   A young girl runs from an abusive father and finds a different kind of monster.  An enchanted castle is under attack from a patchwork monster and our heroes must find the elusive, ticked-off sorcerer who can stop his creation before it tears apart their home.

Inside, you’ll explore a wide assortment of mad scientists and their failed experiments – or successes, if you prefer to see it that way. Some will thrill, some will chill. A few will make you laugh or maybe shed a tear. But who IS the Monster? You decide.

PERCHANCE TO DREAM
A princess with thirteen children would give anything for a good night’s sleep, but her fairy godmothers don’t seem to have practical answers for her.  A veterinarian falls into a coma after trying to treat a dog who had contact with an unusual lizard. But can the sheriff find a cure and save her life?  A spy can’t remember her past. Her partner must trigger her memories before enemy agents find and kill her.  A young girl signs a contract to save her family from eviction and ends up frozen far into the future.  A prince falls into a sleep realm, and finds his true love among the Fae when he thought she was long dead. But can he find a way to save her?

Join our Ye Olde Dragon authors as we leap out of the box and into seventeen diversely fabulous worlds surrounding the Sleeping Beauty legend!

DON'T GO IN THE WATER
A very strange family vacation that goes awry. A bunch of fairy gardeners who run afoul of a water sprite. Creatures who can control human minds, until one man discovers a way to infiltrate their ranks. Sirens, mutant frogs, an ancient demonic river monster, even one monster in space!  And what about a Gill Man who tries to join Classic Monsters Anonymous, but is refused entry? Bittersweet friendship, an escapee from an aquarium, and a monster in the lake. Another Enchanted Castle story that will leave you in stitches!

Good creatures, bad creatures. Fall in love with the Creature From the Black Lagoon all over again. And think carefully before you go in the water.

COMING MAY 1:
TALES FROM THE FOREST
We're excited to bring you this new fairytale anthology where our authors take the trope of Red Riding Hood and turn it upside down and inside out and send it to strange, new worlds!

TWO OLDE DRAGONS WRITING WYRD STORIES

Dragons! Are they good or bad? Do they help humanity or devour them? Depending on the author and the story, you’ll find both.
Jasmine is a human child who loves all the creatures of the forest, but the one thing she loves more than anything else is a rescued dragon egg, the one thing that is forbidden in her village.
Fragmar is a wise old dragon who wants very much to be left alone with her books and scrolls. But the ambitions and insanity of the human race call to her for solutions to their dilemmas over and over as the centuries of her life unfurl.
The Hideaway is a cozy little getaway in upstate New York where the wealthy can take their trysts without being seen.
Only a Talent can establish communication with the Castitaran dragons, known as numenjax. But when the communication short-circuits Confri and knocks her out cold, she thinks her part in the project is over. Until the numenjax come up with a much more creative plan!

The Two Olde Dragons are pleased to introduce The Bard, James K. Bowers, with his epic dragon poems, “Dragonbane” and “Ice Dragon” to open and close the collection
